It’s great in mixed drinks, but this stuff is smooth – when we say it’s a sipping rum, we mean it.

Shortly after the retail launch of La Colombe's Different Drum Rum, they were in need of a hero shot as silky smooth as the product itself. This is the process of painstakingly lighting, capturing, deconstructing and reassembling over 30 photos to capture the essence of Different Drum Rum.

The Process

Methodically lighting and shooting individual elements of the bottle.

The Result

Carefully combining elements from a library of production shots resulted in a final image impossible to capture with lighting alone.

“In an attempt to get my butt off the computer in 2014, I’ve begun a painted number project. It’s slow going as time for regaining my painting skill is scarce, but it’s a fun, productive, and almost meditative hobby for the time being.”
